Ponies Split Double Header with Grayson
Panola College traveled to Whitehouse, Texas to play Grayson College in a double header. It was the last weekend of non-conference for the Ponies and the best test going into Region 14 east play.
Game 1 (7 innings)-
Sophomore Tyler Davis (Houston, TX) took the mound for the Ponies and it was his show. Davis posted the first complete game of the season with a stat line of 7IP-2H-1R-0ER-2BB-9K. He was dominate from the first pitch. Trent Touchet (Shreveport, LA) and Kade Clemens (Gilmer, TX) added an RBI double each to give the Ponies their only two runs. Ponies win game 1 by a score of 2-1.
Game 2 (9 innings)-
Game 2 was much different than game 1. A back and forth high scoring affair that ultimately led to Grayson winning 10-8. Chris Collet (New Orleans, LA) was the big offensive provider with a double and his second big fly of the year. Hayden Collins (Cypress, TX) and Garret Hermes (Rowlett, TX) each gave the Ponies solid outings on the mound.
Panola is back Thursday (2/28) and Saturday (3/2) as they take on the Paris Dragons to open up Region 14 East play. Thursday's game is at Paris and Saturday's double header is in Carthage, TX.
