It was a big weekend for the Panola Men's Basketball Team as they traveled to Plano for the East West Challenge. The weekend started with a 4PM Tip vs Odessa on Friday and the Ponies got the Overtime victory 95-89.
The Ponies were led by Jermaine Drewey with 22 points and 8 rebounds and Teddy Ochieng who had 18 points, 8 rebounds and 4 blocks. Kelyn Pennie added 15 points and Christopher Coley with 11. In addition, Dominique Jackson played great against Odessa's zone defense and finished with 9 points and 6 assists.
There was a short turnaround after the hard fought overtime victory with a 12PM tip on Saturday vs Clarendon. The Ponies proved too much for the Bulldogs and took the victory 91-78. Panola was led by Kelyn Pennie who poured in 24 points and added 4 assists. Jermaine Drewey contributed a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Joining them in double figures was Stanton Rose with 17 points.
The Ponies will be back in action on Tuesday November 12th as they host the Houston Gladiators at 7PM in Arthur Johnson Gymnasium.
The team will then hit the road to Levelland, Texas on Thursday for games vs #8 South Plains and New Mexico Military Institute on Friday and Saturday.
