Ponies Upset #6 South Plains
The #13 Panola Men's Basketball team travelled to Levelland, Texas on Thursday November 14th to play in the South Plains Classic.
 
In a wild game, the Ponies won 85-84 in Overtime vs the #6 ranked South Plains Texans.  Panola was down by 3 with 3.5 seconds left on the clock in regulation when Jermaine Drewey made a 35 foot shot as the time expired to send the game into overtime. The Ponies pulled it out in dramatic fashion with the one point win.
 
Drewey led the way for the Ponies with 21 points and 5 rebounds.  Stanton Rose was a major factor in the 12 point second half comeback and finished with 18 points on 6-7 3PFG.  Joining them in double figures was Christopher Coley with 13 points and 9 rebounds.
 
It was a quick turnaround as the team had to play New Mexico Military on Saturday at Noon.  The Ponies dropped the game 58-55.
 
Next game is scheduled for Tuesday November 19 as the Ponies will host East Texas Baptist JV at 7pm in the Arthur Johnson Gymansium.
 
Region XIV play will open up on Saturday as Panola will host the Jacksonville College Jaguars on November 23 at 4pm.
 
In addition, the Ponies will host #1 in the Nation Ranger College on Monday November 25.
