A Strong Weekend for the Fillies

The Panola College women's basketball team took on two teams this past weekend and came out victorius in both games.

In Friday nights' match up against 903 Elite, the Fillies took a 107-29 win, with Waynecka Wynn leading the way with 20 points. The win is marked down as one of the largest in Fillies women's basketball history.

Saturday night, the Fillies faced a deeper challenge against Southern University-Shreveport. After a low scoring first quarter, the Fillies came back to win 71-58. "I thought our team played well against a very athletic and talented team. We have areas we can improve in, but everybody stepped up and played hard and played together," third-year Head Coach Eddie Kite stated. "This weekend was a good kickoff to what we expect to be a great season for the Fillies!"

Charlynn Perry led all scorers with 19 points on the night. Amanda Cruz added 13 points and 3 assists.

The Fillies will continue their season in the Tyler Junior College Classic on November 11th and 12th. First game will be at 1:00pm against Collin County Community College. Saturdays match up will be against Ranger college at 1:00pm.
