Fillies Open Conference with a Home Court Win

Carthage, TX- The Panola Fillies begin conference play with a home court victory versus Jacksonville, winning 91-70. The Fillies move to 1-0 in conference and 5-0 on the season.

The Fillies found themselves down after the opening possession. The first quarter would go on to display an up and down pace, with multiple lead changes. The Fillies would force multiple turnovers that led to a 25-15 lead at the end of the quarter despite a rocky start.

As the second period began, the Fillies would soon find themselves in foul trouble. With three starters on the bench with two fouls apiece, the Fillies looked to its bench. Freshman Maria Adashchyk  and sophomore Nailah Beyah-Blount would help the Fillies secure a 46-37 lead going into the break scoring ten of the twenty-one points of the quarter.

The Fillies would outscore Jacksonville College in following two quarters. A strong finish from Patience Okpe would seal the deal. Okpe would score 12 of 27 game high points in the fourth quarter. Okpe also recorded another double-double with 10 rebounds. She would be followed up in double digit scoring from four of her teammates; Weronika Nowakowska (13), Daria Eremeeva (11), Stefany Lorenco (10), and Maria Adashchyk (13).

The Fillies travel to Athens, TX for the Budke/Serna Classic November 24 and 25. The Fillies will play Northeastern Oklahoma at 5 p.m. Friday evening and McLennan Saturday at 4 p.m.
