Panola men split, rout DFW prep

Carthage, Texas ? The Panola College men?s basketball team went 1-1 this past week. The defeated DFW Prep 114-65 on Thursday and lost to sixth ranked Trinity Valley Community College, 90-75. ?We just weren?t aggressive enough against Trinity Valley. We got in hole, battled back, but it was too little too late.? Head Coach Grant McMillan added. Panola is 17-9 on the season and 9-6 in Region 14 play.

On Thursday, Panola used a steady offensive attach in route to a 114-65 victory. The Ponies came out hot from the get-go scoring 60 first half points, the most on the season. Eight players scored in double figures and were led by Marlon Taylor?s 20 points.

On Saturday, Panola traveled to Athens, Texas to take on sixth ranked Trinity Valley. A sluggish start saw the Ponies down 40-28 at halftime. Trinity Valley extended their lead to as much as 24 in the second half. A strong run saw the Ponies cut the lead to nine with just under 4:00 minutes to play but could not get any closer. Juwan Williams netted 18 points in the loss.

Panola continues Region 14 play this upcoming Wednesday when they host NJCAA ranked Tyler Junior College. Tip-off is set up for 7:30 PM on the campus of Panola College.
