Roadrunners Defeat Fillies

Sophomore Genesis Rivera goes for two
Sophomore Genesis Rivera goes for two

The Panola Fillies went down to Lufkin, Texas on Wednesday night and could not connect in the loss versus Angelina College, 74-81. "We just have to start games better, we came out too flat", stated Head Coach Eddie Kite.

Panola found themselves down at half time once again, 35-43. The numbers were low for Panola in every category at that point, from rebounds to field-goal percentage. In the start of the third quarter, Panola would play as best as they could and chip away at the score little by little. Genesis Rivera would go one her own scoring run of 8-0 to bring the Fillies within 9 at 59-50 heading into the fourth.
The game would come close in the last chapter, but it just wouldn't be enough for the Fillies as they got their 5th loss in conference. Sophomore Genesis Rivera led the team with 18 points on the night, and Freshmen Nailah Beyah-Bount and Daria Eremeeva would both chip in 10.
The Fillies hit the road again this Saturday against #22 San Jacinto-North at 2 p.m.
