The Fillies Finish the Week 1-1

The Panola Fillies were able to continue its undefeated home win streak against Paris (77-61), before it lost a hard fought battle on the road versus Jacksonville (75-67).

This week Fillies returned to home action Wednesday night versus Paris where the Fillies extended its home win streak on the year. The Fillies didn’t have the best shooting night, but were able to secure the game with defense. Panola extended a special welcome to the band and visiting Tenaha girls’ varsity basketball team.

Four Fillies scored in double digits. Patience Okpe led the way with 22. Nailah Blount (11), Daria Eremeeva (13), and Jalynn Estrada (10) rounded out top scoring for the Fillies.

The Fillies hit the road to Jacksonville for a hard fought contest that resulted in a 75-67 loss. A slow start to the first quarter would allow Jacksonville to jump out in front. After going on a 31- 14 run, the Fillies would head into halftime with a 45-37 lead.

The Fillies couldn’t sustain the lead after starting slow yet again in the third quarter. The Fillies would go down by as much as 10, and only come within 4 before Jacksonville went on a run to secure the victory. The Fillies were led by Okpe with 21 points.

Panola returns to home action Wednesday, January 31, hosting Angelina College at 530 pm.
