No. 22 Fillies Pick up road Win against No. 9 Trinity Valley

Athens, TX- The Panola Fillies traveled to conference foe Trinity Valley on Saturday and captured a 64-61 win in a thriller. The Fillies ended their three game road stint with a victory Saturday for its fifth win in a row.

The Fillies began the game in stride. Sophomore Daria Eremeeva scored a quick seven points for the Fillies within the opening minutes of the game. The strong start allowed the Fillies to end the first break with a 20-14 lead.

The second period would not go the same way for Panola Empty possessions, turnovers, and defensive miscommunications haunted the Fillies the entire second quarter. Panola would be outscored 15-6 during the period.

After the halftime to regroup the Fillies would come out focused and ready to play. Improved communication and execution allowed the Fillies to get back into the game entering the fourth quarter down 44-39.

Sophomore Stefany Lourenco would lead the charge of the fourth quarter compiling 7 of her 13 points in the period including a free throw that would put the Fillies up 64-61 with 1.9 seconds left. A last chance attempt by Trinity Valley would be tipped and secured by Lourenco as well to end the game.

The Fillies return to action Wednesday, February 21 in AJ Gym. Tipoff is set for 530pm.
