Play for the cure: Dig Pink game Friday, Oct. 6

The Panola College Fillies will host the 9th Annual Dig Pink game at 6 p.m., Friday, Oct. 6 in the A.J. Johnson Gymnasium. This year’s breast cancer awareness event features a match against Cedar Valley College.

“This is a special time of year when we set aside our green and white pride and unite in pink to join a cause rooted in home and strength to find a cure to a devastating disease that claims nearly 40,000 lives each year in the United States alone,” said Amber McCray, Fillies Head Coach.

Admission is $5, but free for all Panola College students, faculty, staff, retirees and their immediate families. Proceeds from the gate admission will be donated to the Side-Out Foundation, a support and advocacy organization dedicated to making a significant and identifiable difference in the lives of breast cancer patients and their families. Side-Out supports clinical trials, provides compassionate support services, and promotes education about breast cancer to communities.

“We hope the whole community will come out to join us in taking a stand in the first against breast cancer. We have set a goal of raising $500 for the foundation and are hoping all of you can help us get there,” McCray said.

Donations will be accepted at the game, and can also be made online by visiting the Dig Pink fundraising page at https://giving.side-out.org/campaigns/13498. All donations are tax deductible.

“Thank you all for your support this season thus far. We really appreciate the excellent home crowds we have had, and we hope everyone will please come out again to support a great cause. We want to paint the gym pink as we cheer on Panola College to victory,” McCray added.
