Fillies Fall Short At The Region XIV Tournament

ATHENS, Texas- The Fillies volleyball season comes to an end after falling to Trinity Valley and Navarro in the Region XIV Tournament. 

The Fillies faced Trinity Valley Thursday and rallied to five sets, (18-25, 23-25, 28-26, 25-18, 13-15), but ended up coming short. 

Nyah Walker collected a double-double and led the Fillies offense with 21 kills and 14 digs. Cassidy Cole followed behind making a statement from the middle and adding 17 kills with five blocks on the five-set match. 

Sophomore Libero, Erin Perez, led the Fillies in digs tallying up 28 digs while Freshman defensive player, Chesney Baker, came in to help hold off the Cardinals offense and added 18 digs on the match. Freshman Setter, Jazmine Perez, contributed 50 assists and three kills on the match.

The Fillies came back at 9 a.m. on Friday morning to face Victoria College. Fillies defeat the Pirates in a three-set match, (25-20, 25-21, 25-17).

Nyah Walker collected another double-double with 14 kills and 16 digs. Cassidy Cole added 11 kills hitting a .429 clip on the three-set match. Sarah Kayadibi followed behind and added seven kills with a .268 clip and two aces. Jazmine Perez ended the match with 34 assists, three kills, and seven digs. Libero Erin Perez concluded the match with 18 digs, one ace, and two kills. 

The Fillies then faced Navarro at 1 p.m. on Friday and ended up falling short in the four-set match to conclude tournament play and the season, (25-23, 19-25, 22-25, 19-25). 

The Fillies started out strong and ended up battling to win the first set but coming up short the next three sets. 

Sophomore Nyah Walker added her third double-double on the tournamnet with 12 kills, 18 digs, and two aces. Freshman Middle Blocker, Cassidy Cole, and Freshman Outisde, Hannah Stallings, both contributed 10 kills each to the Fillies offense. Middle Blocker, Sarah Kayadibi, added six kills hitting a .333 clip. 

Jazmine Perez also collected a double-double with 33 assists and 12 digs. Erin Perez, Sophomore Libero, tried to hold off the Bulldogs offense by collecting 21 digs and three aces. 

The Fillies concluded the tournamnet and ended up placing 5th.
