Week 16 Recap: 

In the sixteenth week of the 2023-2024 season, the Fillies fell to Kilgore College in the first round of the Region XIV Tournament, bringing their ‘23-’24 campaign to an end. The Fillies finished with an overall record of 14 losses and 16 wins.

Game Highlights:

  • Awa Fane closed out the season with a convincing stat line of 27 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists.

  • Na’Kaylyn Wells delivered solid numbers with 11 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists.

  • Hannah Young finished with 6 points, and 5 rebounds.

Season Recap:

The 2023-2024 Fillies enjoyed a season including many memorable highlights. The Fillies started off with two convincing wins both with scoring margins of nearly 30 points each versus Western Gulf College and Dallas College Mountain View. Later, the Fillies traveled to Trinity Valley Community College to compete in the Annual Cardinal Classic and left undefeated with wins against Dallas College Cedar Valley and Louisiana State University Eunice. The Fillies continued into Region XIV play and managed to upset Tyler Junior College in a down to wire 1 point victory at home. The momentum from the TJC home victory later carried the Fillies into a 5 game win streak vs. Region XIV opponents including a magical overtime 97-94 upset versus Kilgore College. Before concluding regular season play,  the Fillies had three players earn Region XIV superlatives. Freshmen, Ja’Nae Southall and Na’Kaylyn Wells earned Region XIV Honorable Mention honors. Freshman Awa Fane was selected to the All-Region team. The Fillies embarked on post season play by securing the overall 6th seed and landing Kilgore College for round one of the Region XIV tournament. The Fillies battled hard and led Kilgore by 3 points going into halftime but they ultimately fell short bringing their 2023-2024 season to an end.
