CARTHAGE, TX -

 The Panola College Fillies defeated Wharton College last night in four sets (25-18, 22-25, 25-8, 25-19), in their Region XIV Conference opener. 

 Andressa Soares and Tamara Chavez held down the Fillies offense adding 10 kills each on the match and both ending the night with a double-double. Chavez also led the Fillies defense with 18 digs, three aces, and one block. Soares ended her night by adding 12 digs, three blocks, and one ace.

  Ana Carolina Melo stepped in to help the Fillies push past Wharton College and concluded her night with seven kills, hitting a .263%. 

 Libero, Erin Perez, had a total of 17 digs in the four-set match with five assists and one ace. 

 Vitoria Mattos led the Fillies with 26 assists and had eight digs on the night while Letcia Correa followed behind with 10 assists and one block. 

 The Fillies travel to Beeville, Texas for another conference match against Coastal Bend tonight, Wednesday, September 1st, at 6pm.
