Ponies Start The Season 2-0

It has been a long wait for the NJCAA basketball season, but the wait
is over and the Panola Men’s Basketball Team picked up two wins in the
opening week of Region XIV play.

On Wednesday January, 20, the Ponies traveled to play a talented
Bossier Parish squad and came away with a 82-62 Win.

Leading the way was Freshman Cody Deen with 23 Points, 5 Rebounds, and
3 Assists. He was joined in double figures by Freshman Isaac Jackson
(17), and Josh Miller (15). Ja’Hiem Handy led with 5 Assists and
pitched in 5 Points. Stephen Faramade led with 8 Rebounds and scored 7
Points.

On Saturday January 23, the Ponies hosted the #11 ranked Navarro
College. After a big first half that finished with Panola leading
50-32, the team was able to weather Navarro’s comeback efforts in the
second half to come away with a 81-76 victory.

The Ponies were led by Freshman Tytan Newton who scored 23 Points and
added 5 Assists. He was joined in double figures by Cody Deen (18
Points and 4 Assists), Stephen Faramade (14 Points and 8 Rebounds),
and Olaverr Camacho (11 Points and 9 Rebounds).

Panola will be back in action as they host Lamar State Port Arthur in
Arthur Johnson Gymnasium on Wednesday. Tip is set for 7pm.
