Young Ponies Finish Shortened Season 14-7

The Panola Men's Basketball team's season came to an end in the Region XIV Quarterfinals as they dropped their game versus a hot-shooting Paris Team, 79-68.

Though the season did not finish the way everyone was hoping, the Ponies still had a very successful 2021 Campaign.  Entering the year with only 1 Sophomore, no one really knew what the young team could accomplish.  After a hot start and taking down the #11 ranked team in the nation early in the season, the Ponies spent the large majority of the year in the NJCAA Top 25, with the highest-ranking of #14.

In addition, Panola won 14 Region XIV conference games, which is the second-most by the school in numerous years. "I am very proud of what our team accomplished this year, " said Coach Aaron Smith.  "Though it did not end the way we wanted it to, for us to be nationally ranked the majority of the season with basically an entire team made up of freshmen, and to win 14 Region XIV conference games is a testament to our young men and the program that has been established."

As some Ponies move on and others return, the recruiting season is already underway and the program looks to build on two solid years under Coach Aaron Smith.
