Ponies Lose at Region XIV Tournament, Finish Year at 19-12
The opening round game of the Region XIV Tournament had the Ponies playing the Jacksonville College Jaguars. Jacksonville made 29 of 31 Free Throws in route to their 100 to 92 Victory. Panola's slow first half start hindered them coming out on top in the second half. Jacksonville got up by as many as nineteen points during the first half, and Panola went into halftime down eleven points. Panola battled back to take the lead in the second half with a score of 74 to 72, but Jacksonville used a run over the next couple of minutes that proved to be the deciding factor in the game.
 
The Ponies were led in scoring by Kelyn Pennie with 21 points, and five other ponies joined him in double figures; Kamari Brown (17 points); Jermaine Drewey (13 points); Cameron Carson (13 points); Christopher Coley (10 points); Stanton Rose (10 points).
 
Though the year finished on a low note, overall it was a successful season for the program. The Ponies finished with nineteen wins (10 wins in Region XIV), Three of which came against ranked opponents. The Ponies beat #14 Odessa, won at #8 South Plains and beat Clarendon who was ranked as high as #6. Panola climbed all the way up to #11 in the Nation during the season, which was the highest National ranking for the Ponies in numerous seasons. The Ponies finished #2 in the Nation in three pointers made per game, and in the top 20 in the country in three point field percentage.
 
The Program will look to regroup, and continue to build on the foundation that has been laid
