Ponies Start Season 7-1
The Panola Men's Basketball team has finished an early daunting portion of their schedule and sits at 7-1 after the first three weeks of the season.
 
Notable wins include a 17-point victory over the #2 Nationally Ranked South Plains Texans and another win over a Region V opponent: Howard.
 
The Ponies also own 2 wins vs Southern Shreveport, one of which coming in the home opener and the other on the road the following week.
 
Through the start, Panola has been led in scoring by William Mfum who is averaging 14.1 PPG. Joining him in double figures is Jaylen Wysinger at 10.4 PPG and Isaac Jackson at 10.1 PPG.
 
In addition, Point Guard Jacobi Lewis is averaging 8.9 PPG and leads the team in assists at 5.7 per contest.  The Ponies have had great production in the front court from Troy Hupstead and Olaverr Camacho, both of whom have recorded double doubles in the early season.  Hupstead is averaging 8.8 PPG and 8.3 RPG.  Camacho is averaging 8.5 PPG and leads the team in rebounding at 8.6 RPG.
 
Panola will be back in action on Monday, November 22nd playing host to the Houston Gladiators.  After a few days off, the Ponies will look to get ready for Region XIV action which begins on Wednesday, December 1st.  The #18 Seahawks of Lamar State Port Arthur will come to Arthur Johnson Gymnasium for the 7PM tip.
