Fillies Continue Home Court Winning Streak

The Panola Fillies remain undefeated at home after going 2-0 this week. The Fillies beat Angelina College 80-55 Wednesday evening, before defeated San Jacinto 63-52 on Saturday.

The Fillies put together a strong 2nd half to break away and win versus Angelina College 80-55. The first half saw several lead changes and ties. Deadlocked at 33 entering half time, the Fillies were led in a strong charge by freshman Maryia Adashchyk. Adashchyk had 18 of her new career high 25 points in the two final periods.

Alongside her was sophomore Stefany Lourenco. Lourenco would get into the action dishing out a career high 10 assist to go along with her 13 points and 6 steals. The Fillies only gave up 22 points in the second half, while scoring 47 points of their own.

On Saturday, Panola welcomed San Jacinto. Despite a horrific scoring first half, the Fillies would turn the slow start to an impressive 63-52 win.

The Fillies would only connect on 8 total field goals in the first half, leading to a 33-22 point deficit at the break. The drought ended as sophomores Patience Okpe, Daria Eremeeva, and Nailah Blount would connect on multiple possessions to take a lead heading into the final quarter. Each would score majority of their points in the two final periods.

 Eremeeva would post a game high 17 points; Okpe (10) and Adashchyk (10) would round out top scoring for the Fillies.

The Fillies begin a three game road stint this week beginning in Blinn this Wednesday, February 7th. Tip-off is set for 530 pm.
