Aaliyah “Coach J” Johnson joined Fillies women's basketball staff in July 2023 as an assistant coach. She comes to Panola College with five years of Division I playing experience and one year of coaching experience as a Graduate Assistant Coach at her alma mater.

Most recently, she served as a Graduate Assistant Coach on Mark Kellogg's staff during the ‘22-’23 season helping the Ladyjacks to a 27-7 record. The team earned a post season win in the 2023 WNIT. She also assisted with recruiting, film, scouting, skill and character development, primarily assisting with post players.

As a student athlete for the Ladyjacks from 2017-2022, Coach J garnered a 125-28 career record, consisting of back-to-back regular season & conference tournament championships (Southland & WAC). She also boasts consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances in the ‘20-’21 and ‘21-’22 seasons. Along with two appearances in the WNIT during her freshman and sophomore campaigns. 

Coach J was a team captain during her last two seasons of play and finished her career shooting 34% from behind the arc and etching herself at 7th all-time career blocks in SFA women's basketball history.

Johnson graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Sports Business from Stephen F. Austin State University in 2020 before earning a Master of Arts in Student Affairs and Higher Education in 2023.
